Can anyone that's familiar with the Klim Klimate & Keweenaw bibs tell me if those 2 styles are the same "cut", specifically from the knee area downward? Reason I ask is that I tried on a pair of the Klimate, and that area was quite large and bulky, curious if the Keweenaw was the same.

Also, anyone using the FXR brand pants? Are they waterproof?

I think the lower leg cut is to accomodate for when you add your boots. I thought the same thing when I tried the Klimates on in the showroom. Once I added my boots, everything looked and felt in proportion.

I bought the Klimate so I can't compare with the Keweenaw bib, maybe someone else can.

Klimate bibs zipper does not go all the way up and the chest area is not covered. Keweenaw bibs have longer zippers and cover chest. FXR pants are way cool, the zipper and snaps went out of mine fast other wise I loved them. I currently have Klimate bibs.

The Klim "Keweenaw" is the name given to their parkas. The Klimate Bib is pictured here, as described on their website.

Whoa! I stand corrected Polarisrider1, I drilled deeper into their website and found the Keweenaw Bib's. (ya learn something every day)

They look comparable, different colors and stitching, a bit of design difference from what I can tell. The Keweenaw does appear to have a narrow opening at the bottom of the leg.

From Klim's site, looks like both bibs cover the chest. Keweenaw has 2 outer pockets vs. the Klimate's one.

The pair of Klimates I tried on just seemed huge around the calf/ankle area. Dealer only had that style, no Keweenaws.

My boots aren't that bulky to need that much room.

Gary, yeah, that's kind of what I thought about the leg opening, but pics can be deceiving.

My FXR pants are waterproof and I love them! I think they are Nitro style. Not that you want those ones....unless you want gal pants! :) lol

Buddy wears FXR pants & luvs them & he never gets wet. He is trying to convince me to buy FXR pants but I'm considering Klim too. I'm on the fence & I know I can get a really good price on FXR pants & Klim will be full MSRP. I would go Klim but want a discount so holding out & shopping price.

I went by what hangs in my closet. I suspect the klimate bibs are wider at the bottom since the zipper does not go up far enough and thats how they compensate for it. It cost almost as much to replace a FXR pant zipper as it does to buy a new pair. gave them to my son and he wears them anyways.

Leaning towards the bibs, looks like pricing is retail everywhere.

Called a local dealer, no Keweenaw bibs in my size, either smaller or larger-go figure.

Plan to go down and take a look at them to compare to the Klimates.

I like the Klimate bibs (other than the side zippers being to short) because My chest stays plenty warm with a tec vest on and it is less bulk up top. bottom line is: If you got a beer gut go with Klimate bibs. If your built like a string bean go with the Keweenaw bibs.

Yep that is the problem with Klim always MSRP. Great gear but pricey. FXR lots more options on price if you shop around. Klim reminds me of Bose speakers same price everywhere. Never found a deal on Bose but have not given up on a Klim discount yet.

You will not find a discount on Klim this time of the year and most likely only on weird sizes at the end of the season. Klim controls that really good. Sell cheaper then they say = no longer Klim dealer.....

I would also look into Motorfist. Might have to get used to layering as they really don't have thinsulate in there stuff. Just really a shell, but very good stuff.

Had FXR before I went Klim and never had a problem with it. Go with what fits you the best and what you can afford. Just remember that you get what you pay for.

Just my 2 cents,

Dana

Alright, now you all got me wondering... So I went downstairs and pulled out my Klimate Bibs. I bought these earlier this fall and haven't worn them yet so I'm not too familiar with the features.

1. (short zippers?) My zippers go all the way up to the side panels, at least past the hip.

2. I have the wider Klimate Bottoms with the Storm Gaters (sp).

3. Wish they had more pockets, just one on the Bib.

4. I should mention also that I got a nice discount from a local dealer at the time of purchase. Way less than the 299 List Price which was my deciding factor. I know we're not supposed to mention non advertisers here on J.D. so I'll just say they're a Polaris & Yamaha dealer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. They might have charged me way more if they'd known I ride Ski Doo!

Again, this purchase was before the Snow Shows so maybe they were anxious to make some early coin. There's bargains out there if you're patient and know when and where to look.

I do recall the sales person saying that "this was their first year with KLIM". Maybe the discount was associated with that, another possibility (about that zipper thing) maybe these are last year's Bibs with a different design. It wouldn't matter to me but maybe that would explain the price. Dunno!

My mistake. Sorry folks. I have the Togwotee bibs. The klimate has white thread and zipper goes from top to bottom. Dug deeper in my closet. Thought I was going to catch it before Gary. My mistake. Darn bibs shrunk a little.

Every western guide and 90% of the outwest riders are wearing Klim. If you are shopping price alone you will get wet and cold. I was a hard sell toget me out of leather, I about died at Tog. Went to klim next day.

Nope I'm not a cold wave guy nor do I intend to buy Walmart bibs I have a lot more experience than that! It will be Klim or FXR. I never buy anything on impluse & have a great pair of very expensive doo bibs with with yellow waterproof inserts in seat & knees & never got wet or cold doo bibs just getting old. Klim is a great product but I never pay list price for anything just not my nature....I have to feel I got a good deal or I just plain won't buy the product. Just being me.:)
