I hate to start moderating things to keep only positive posts, especially because that can be up to debate what is positive or at least constructive.

With the new topic area, I would still have to read through all the whining, but at least all of them would be in their own little "closet" and the rest of you would not have to deal with it, unless you wanted to.

Why add another Topic? There are enough already and posts will still come up whenever the "New Posts" button is clicked.

Most of the complaints are from those who haven't been around here for very long and, once they figure it out, they will adapt or go away. Then there will be somebody else right behind them and so on, and so on.

I prefer the "ignore and/or respond accordingly" concept to another topic that will inevitably spill over to the existing ones.

I think enough old-timers have gone away already. Why open the gates with a Whine and Complaints area that will surely invite more negativity and users who simply don't get what John Dee Land is/was all about.

Don't add a whiners section, please. Link them to a different site, that likes whiners, or leave it alone. In a month the snow will be going away, and so will most of the whiners that are only on here for 2-3 months out of the year.

I think maybe a "Positive Only" section would be more needed. I bet that wouldn't get many views.

Some good and some funny responses.

I guess I am still up in the air on the whole idea of a topic area dedicated to whining.

I see three possible scenarios:

1) Leave things as they are and hope that the "head in the sand" approach somehow reverses the trend of increased posts that are just done to complain.

2) Create the Whiners Topic area and let folks do their whining there and anyone that does not want to deal with it can avoid it like they do the Jerry Springer show.

3) Create another rule, one against whining.

I will give it some more time, consult with the upper management (Nora) and my high priced legal team from Dewey, Cheetham and Howe and see what some more time can do for my decision making. Until then, steady as she goes, smoke'em if you got'em and keep up the good work!

Here is an example of what could be on Bad Gas : I HATE IT WHEN YOU GO TO THE BANK AND THEY HAVE THEIR CRAPPY PENS ON LITTLE CHAINS!!!!!!!!!!!!! AS IF I AM GOING TO STEAL THE STUPID THINGS THAT NEVER WORK ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!! NO WONDER PEOPLE ROB BANKS!!!! GRRRRRRRR.

These kind of threads can be spotted a UP mile ahead. Either by the Title or when you see a 5 page thread about trail conditions in xxxx county. I like the idea cause if you take a look now there are prob 4-5 threads now and these are just in Misc and recent.

1) won't help
2) sad to say will help. Mods will require intense training.
3) whining can follow a fine line. A detailed definition would need to be added to rules and you would need to insure one actually reads the rules to ensure you don't have to "bulk ban".

I like "yellow snow" and "melt down. How about "official snowmobiling complaint department ". This way they feel like someone is going to do something about it,especially if there just coming on here just to wine.
