Illinois resident. Two sleds registered in Wisconsin and girlfriends registered in Illinois. Ordered her non resident pass and me two registered passes last Sunday online. Arrived in mail in Illinois on Thursday. Easy purchase online. Less expensive too!

The passes are available at Fleet Farm for sure. You need your registration card and your DL and $30 for WIS resident. How simple can it get??
Also no counter fee like DNR charges.

I'm pretty sure you didn't leave Fleet Farm with your WI Trail Pass in hand. You can buy (order) them at a DNR retailer, like Fleet Farm, but they will be mailed to you from the State of WI DNR.

Bought mine last Thursday at Twin Lakes Marine and will be mailed to me this week from the DNR. Only out of state trail passes can you get on site.

That is what I was wondering, if the out of state pass is available on site.
Anyone buy a WI nonresident trail pass in hand at a DNR retailer like department store or Marina? Everything I read so far says mail delivery only after purchase. If someone walked out with a nonresident WI traill pass after purchase it would be good to know.

Ordered my trail pass on a Sunday and it arrived on a Friday. Sent my Illinois registration in 2 weeks ago not a thing back. This is going to be the first time I registered in Illinois lets see if I have the stickers by March

harvest1121,
you better keep your documentation! Illinois gov't can't chew gum and walk at the same time. Its actually hard work to be as inefficient as it functions. Too many stories to even begin but when they said I had to surrender my title to get registered i said forget it. registered in WI, had everything before I walked out the door.

Bought mine at Fleet Farm $30.00 there was no service charge. I did not walk away with the trail pass but I did receive a temporary pass I could use until it comes in the mail.

At this time, right now, you could not ride with your receipt from purchasing your trail pass. There is legislation in the works, that should be law by early December, that would allow you to ride with your receipt until your pass came in the mail. When this law passes, it will only be good for trail passes purchased through the DNR. The AWSC does not have the capability to run the same type program that the DNR does. Maybe in the future?

I purchased two out of State trail permits yesterday online from the DNR. Cost was $101. The dollar is a convenience fee. I printed out a receipt and was told the permits would be mailed within the week. Easy to do.

I live in Michigan.

It seems like it is working well for most! Good to see. No doubt there will be issues, but so far, so good.

So before I registered my sleds in mn and wi. Minnesota before you had to register and put numbers on your sled and pay for a trail pass. two stickers on each side for reg and one on the front windshield for the trail pass. and Wisconsin you just register the sled and your set to go no trail pass. now mn is doing this and getting rad of the trial pass if you reg your sled in mn.
So I just got a newer sled in mn and got the it registered and Im good to go here. I want to register my sled in Wi too because that's where im from and still like coming home to ride. I do about 80 percent of it here. So what I see is 3 years 30 dollars for Registration one sticker on each side of sled and another 30 dollars for a trail pass each year I put on the front. does that sound right?

Sure has been a lot of confusion over this but just in the nick of time my copy of the Wisconsin Snowmobiler came in the mail. It's the magazine that's put out by the AWSC, Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs and the following picture details where to get your Trail Pass and how much it will cost.

Thanks for posting...
Take note that it does not cost extra to buy a right to ride pass in Michigan...

Yep...real easy to do. I like this as it "forced" me to do the right thing and finally join a club.
