Snowmobile Season '17-'18 Grade so far

Double F. 0 miles ridden and just canceled trip to Eagle River this week because of the warm up Friday. Will try again in 2 weeks. Getting more frustrated each season.

The question is relative to where you live and if you are able ($) and willing to travel to where the snow is at. I stress the able part, as I'm fortunate to have a very flexible vacation schedule and I have quite a bit of it but I know that's not the case for everyone. We just dial in the conditions and forecasts and chase it down. Even when the forecast doesn't look so great with say a warm up, we'll get off the groomed trails and use the GPS to ride logging roads. Locally here in NW Ohio we're having a somewhat 'old-fashioned' winter with Lake Erie and rivers freezing over giving some us some much appreciated unplanned riding and ice fishing. Overall I'd give it an A-.

These kind of posts crack me up - what, not 100% perfect conditions so you cancel?? LOL

I'm not Interested in driving all that way to be in 40 degree temps the first day and watch the trails
Get trashed. What do we do the next day on dirt? I'll wait two weeks and cross my fingers.

@Dooski- agree... I cancelled my trip for this weekend too, because I don't like that 42 on Fri and 33 on Saturday either. I can wait one more week.

Rode last weekend in 40+ for two days, 35 for the 3rd, and did 500+ miles, yeah, pretty crappy......

But hey, to each their own. Hopefully you get a chance to ride :wink-new:

Too hot. Too cold. Too sunny. Too cloudy. Too dark. The game is on. My granddaughter's tooth fell out. Have to get my taxes done. My foot hurts. Too much traffic. Not groomed to perfection. Trails too tight. Don't like Corridor running. Need new carbides. Might wear out my new carbides. Hate that one Bar. Had a bad Cheeseburger. Never going back. Trail passes cost too much. Gas costs too much. Drinks are watered down. Got some bad gas there 7 years ago. No paper towels in the paper towel dispenser. Holes too small in the pepper shakers -no pepper would come out - no way am I ever going back there. God you guys. Did you buy these things to ride or did you buy them to bitch?

LMFAO!! I haven't put mile on due to personal reason but look to make up for it next month and hopefully March! It is what it is and I agree, get out and ride it if you got it!! It's definitely a tuff sport to be in financially and mentally and it's only natural to be disappointed. Just have to make the best of it with calculated guesses and enjoy the time you do get to go regardless of conditions.

Keep the rubber side down!

Bad decision, but good for the trails/me = Less riders. I for one will be racking up mileage this weekend. 42 for one day wont do any harm to the trails, especially with the 10-12" of new snow they got..

C for me so far. Rode great stuff early this month and now its gone in my area. I guess I have to chase it now and have plans for a u.p. trip the next 2 weekends. As busy as its been up there I hope many decide not to ride because of the warm up but I will give you an update on how it was when I get back.....:tan:

Perfectly said, love it. But you forgot to add not having the right kind of goggles and couldn't get Sea & Snow Oil on sale.

And Sasquach kicked me off my sled , then rode off into the deep dark woods with my woman.

That is a classic!

Before I lived here, I would schedule one 6 day ride. It was always around this time of the year and always here in the Keweenaw. We rented sleds. Some years the snow was epic, some not so good, but I do not ever remember being disappointed we made the trip.

Fun happens all by itself. Just let it happen.

Been buzzing round Vilas/UP since Christmas..... last night with 10 inches of new snow, riding was epic. "A" for me, this is winter, I go with the ups/downs....its only carbides and slides.
