Cobalt is referring to Country Village RV park. They do have cabin rentals available. Also, not Ishpeming or Republic but on the trail to both is Timberville in Gwinn. New cabins on the trail across from the UpNorth Lodge in Gwinn.

Can confirm the above.^ I have one for ice fishing, and its great. However bulky. Actually, the jacket is the first thing to come off once inside the shack. I wouldn't consider it on the sled. Just my opinion though.

Just an opinion, so take it for what its worth. I'd avoid Mackinaw City/Island unless you really want to see it. Tourism is out of hand. Take a drive up M119 Tunnel of Trees and check out Harbor Springs, St. Ignace maybe. Pictured Rocks boat tour mentioned above is a good call. Tahquamenon Falls...
