Grand Lake Colorado information

With our poor season a few of us are considering a trip to Grand Lake , for trail riding we have heard that area is the best in Colorado. Will fly from MSP to Denver , rent a car to drive to Grand Lake , then rent sleds. Looking for information on :
Best place to stay ; lodge , cabin or hotel - we’re not fussy but it would be nice to have a good restaurant or two nearby.
Best Trail sled rental , maybe a lodge has a “sled & bed” combination package.
Probably ride for 3-4 days , we’re used to 150-300 mile days. Any suggestions on various loops.
We’ve done this same type of trip to West Yellowstone flying into Bozeman but reports around West Yellowstone and Island Park don’t look very promising this year.
Usually box up our riding gear and UPS it to the hotel and back home. Seems to work pretty good.

Never personally been to Grand Lake, but follow their groomers FB page pretty closely as it's relatively close to Steamboat where we ride (same state anyway. LOL!). They also have a website www.grandlaketrailgroomers.com which has an "area information" tab that will give you local sled rental shops, lodging, restaurants, etc. Have a great trip!!!

My son has spent the last two weekends in West Yellowstone and has said its getting real good. I am heading that way next Wednesday. We do mostly off trail riding but he said trails to get there have been good.
I'd like to try Grand lake sometime also.

Interested to hear reports from the Grand Lake area. We looked into it but ended up going to the Snowies, just because we couldn't find enough info about the area prior to going. Been to the snowies once before and knew what we were getting into, and didnt' want to chance a different area given how far the drive is. Interested in trying it out some another season.
