The sunsets and sunrises always seem better in the Northwoods!
My dad always askes me what it is I like so much about the north woods, my response is always... " the food is better and the beer is always colder in the north woods", he asks me what that means and I say "exactly what it means" LOL!!!

Don't remember when I heard this as it has been years ago, but I was told that Copper Harbor has the cleanest/freshest air in the states.

These are great pictures! I took a vacation day about two weeks ago and stayed overnight in Hurley. I drove up to the top of Mt. Zion in Ironwood around dusk and saw a great sunset, but I don't have pics to share.

There used to be a sign on US 41 prior to entering Houghton that read: You are now breathing the freshest cleanest air on earth. Not sure what ever happened to it, but, I remember it & I have seen postcards with a picture of that sign, I believe some shops in Copper Harbor sold them at one time.

We stayed at the "lighthouse" in copper harbor next to the Harbor Haus in Copper Harbor. When we got there it was pouring rain. Had a wonderful supper and the next morning I went out and stood on the shore and there was a stiff north wind. It was this time of year. I swear I got a buzz from deep inhales and exhales of that invigorating air that was blowing off the big lake. it was amazing!!!! I have never smelt air like that before. Something I will never forget!!
