Hard to believe people are still riding, seeing possible near 50 today even in northwoods, I know there will be many that wont like what I'm about to say but IMO.... shut them down for a bit, also seeing potential good this coming week, was supposed to be in eastern U.P. the week of 16th, moved to week of 22nd and watching weather closely. Sucks when someone has time set aside and reservations when mother nature throws a curve ball but wish we could just preserve what's there in hopes of some good and SOON!

Lots of events happening this weekend so they won't shut them down. Trails in the woods will survive but closer to town it gets ugly and were not even through Saturday. The sun is out and not a cloud in the sky. Supposed to be 44 today.

Had to go down to Rhinelander today, Everything looked pretty good on the way down at 10am even down in Rhinelander. It was really starting to burn through where the sun hit the trails on the way back, especially at road intersections. In the towns it's a sloppy mess. Better at we got North of Minocqua, still pretty good in MW. It was 46 degrees and full sun at 3:15pm, stopped by the Winterfest in MW to buy raffle tickets and have a beer, it was at the new fire station this year, what a nice building! I wish it would get cold but only going down to 25 tonight. Two more days of warm sun and 40 degrees, trails in the woods are fine. Pray for a nice storm next week, it just might happen!

Some pics taken at 3pm Saturday, still lots of snow in MW in the woods. I’m starting to see my blacktop driveway and better yet my roof is melting nicely.

Are they calling for rain up there now on Wednesday? Trip booked from Tuesday to Saturday ( northern Price County).
Hate to change trip but not looking good? Thinking UP may be a better option next week?

It's all over the place, forecasts change every couple of hours. It has us warm until Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Then falling temps colder, Thursday and beyond. One app calls for all snow every night when temps drop into 20's, maybe up to 10" total accumulation Tuesday night through Saturday. Goods news is that after Monday it's cloudy with snow every day through Saturday. That's what the forecast is on Google weather app. NOAA has freezing rain Tuesday into Wednesday and then snow Wednesday through Saturday. I'm not sure the UP will be much different but check with Mezz for the forecast up there. I don't think at this point they really know what to forecast for next week, could be good (snow) or could be bad (rain), if it's freezing rain that won't be bad at all as it will coat the snow and trails.

Thanks....on the fence now. I did find place in Munising they have 3' snow now and looks like 5-8" on wed.
Really wanted to go to Price County.....argh. This will probably be my only trip this year.

Price County is one of my favorite places to ride, They really know how to take care of their trails and traffic is not not bad out there. I had to drive over to Boulder Junction and just got back. On my ride over trail were in great shape even by the road crossings once you get out of town, I would still rate them anywhere from 7-10 outside of town. It's currently 38 and full sun at about noon today, it says partly cloudy on Monday so that is good news. The fact that we had so much snow will probably save our trails until we get to Wednesday. Good luck wherever you end up.

Very nice! sounded like trails were in much need of refreshing snows up there, and with cold setting in grooms should set up tight as well, weekend traffic might me a bit much with MLK and derby weekend but at least we wont be dealing with warm temps so conditions should hold and next week should be great! see you on Monday!

Report on conditions in MW at 3pm on 2/16. Full sun again all and 46 degrees, our 4th day in a row of the same. I can’t believe we are hanging in there but I don’t know how much longer it will last. The trails in the woods are still ok, anywhere the sun can get at it, it’s burning through. Some road crossings still ok that are shaded and same with town roads. I have included some pics in and around MW. Pics are from the road, the good is in the woods.

Well, it's 31 degrees at 7am on Wednesday morning. Our forecast was for 2-6" of snow overnight and as of right now it's snowing heavily and we have 3" of wet snow on the ground, It was really howling last night and there are branches down so I would imagine there are branches and maybe even larger stuff down on the trails. Still calling for snow through this afternoon with a high temp of 34 degrees. Accuweather is calling for 4-8" on Thursday night into Friday. Looks like it stays Cold until the 1st week in March now.

I only saw about an inch of snow at my cabin. I'm really hoping for a couple good riding weekends yet. Winter is ticking away fast.
