How many trips planned and where?

You should be fine riding out of Silver Bay then. We plan to be up there for a good portion of that week also.

How many trips planned and where?

Going up the Northshore to Finland this weekend for the first trip. Then hopefully about every other weekend after that up there. Do have a mid-Feb trip planned for Utah again this year and we'll see about a trip to Montana to ride with my son. No plans yet on that one though.

    How was your camping season?

Yeah, I might be the only person hoping for a recession to drive some demand and prices down.

    How was your camping season?

Yea, thats our thoughts also. Plan to buy a new truck this spring though also. Had a plan as we get closer to retirement to get a truck this spring and a camper the following year. May have to move the camper plans up a bit.

    North shore cabins suggestions

That will be a good spot. You’ll be able to get on the moose walk trails and the trails thru Tettagouchee State Park along with being a short run up to the state trail. Be sure to go south one day and ride down to Gooseberry Falls, go north towards Ely, go up the shore further to the Gunflint...

    North shore cabins suggestions

I ride the North shore about every weekend in the winter. Don't know if you've made your reservations yet but if not I'd try to get a little further up the shore. Grand Superior Lodge is a bit further up and then in Beaver Bay is Cove Point or you can keep moving north from there. The only...

    How was your camping season?

First trip of the year for us was to Madison, WI for our daughters graduation from UW. A storm came along while we were gone and destroyed our awning so I was out cutting that off in the rain. Had to remove all the brackets/mounts/arms so we could drive home. I was taking off the upper mounts a...

    Polaris Sled Recall...230,000 units

I spoke to my dealer and I'm on the list. Have no idea how far back on the list I am. My son got on the list at a dealer out in Montana and he's # 250 on the list there. As Indy 500 said, my sled has been rode hard and put away wet, been upside down many times, and had enough brush stuck in the...

While I haven't been to our cabin in Finland since last weekend a neighbor has reported he has 24" on the ground and it's still snowing like mad. Supposed to snow thru tomorrow morning. And while thats great, the trails that go through swampy areas and the creeks and swamps we like to play in...

    TKI Belt Drive conversion

Me too! I wish I could run two sleds side by side and compare the difference but I'll have to rely on my shaky memory to compare. People that have done it though say they really notice it and like it.

    TKI Belt Drive conversion

Its a 2021 Polaris 850 SKS. It has reverse, all new sleds have the PERC reverse which is just the engine spins backwards instead of the old gear style reverse options.

    TKI Belt Drive conversion

I did. Heated the crap out of it without melting the belly pan. First one came out well but the bottom one, augh. Even broke the handle on the easy out.

    TKI Belt Drive conversion

So I'm not sure if anybody on this board has done this but I decided to install one of these belt drive kits on my 2021 SKS. For those not familiar with it what it does is remove the chain case, gears, and the chain and replaces them with pulleys and a belt. Pretty simple install other than one...

    John Dee's Seasonal Forecast

Good for you. We moved up here to the Duluth area 16+ yrs ago and like it. All the things you need from a city and 10 minutes to be completely in the wilderness. And phenomenal sledding up the shore. But now our kids have moved away, one in NYC and one in Montana, and we are getting close to the...

    What's New with You?

I bought a TKI belt drive conversion kit for my 850 SKS and am in the process of installing that. Looking forward to seeing the difference that makes if I could only get a stripped out torx head screw removed. What a PITA.

    Yellowstone Trip

I drove out last winter from Duluth to West Yellowstone. A perfect spot for me to stop on the way out was Billings. That was 12 hours and then I was meeting my son and friends at 11:00 the next morning to start riding. I've done the drive all night thing like 600RMK mentions and it sucks. That...

Trail 2 - Losing a section due to change of ownership

The new owners also own Lutsen resort and there is trails running right to the lodges and bars there. But the resort doesn't own the lodges or bars except for Papa Charlies. But you can ride up the edge of the road to Papa Charlies (at least I have). Of course the food is bad, the beer is warm...

    SnowTech Editorial Scary Snowmobiling Future

Boy, I'd sure like to disagree with you on this one. As much as I complain about my two kids from time to time they are both hardworking and chasing their dreams. My daughter just graduated college with a math major, IS minor and working in NYC as a Data Scientist/consultant who can't wait to...

    Who's Going???

So we have always camped across the hwy at the chicken coop campground and it's $100 for the weekend, $50 for a night. Yes it's expensive but its awfully simple to just walk across the street. We also have our dogs with so its a quick walk back to let them out for 10-15 minutes or to get lunch...
