    4/6 Screwing Around

Yep, Mezz is right. Sometimes I try to claim I’m not stuck but one of my riding friends usually gets me on a technicality. He says : “If the helmet comes off, you’re stuck.” Strange time of the year up here. Still a good 3 ft. of ice on the lake but the Rainy is open for about 50 miles...

    New sled ordered?

Always look forward to seeing the new hardware every year. Guess I've been a hard-core Polaris guy for the last few years but that BackCountry X in white and black sure looks like a fine sled. Unfortunately, all I can afford to order this year is a pizza.

3 Old Guys Ride to Alaska

Yeah, I saw this last night. I don't know who is writing most of the daily reports but they are excellent. In addition to providing updates on what is going on with the guys, they provide a lot of interesting history and information about the areas the group is travelling through.

    4/6 Screwing Around

Sounds like a good way to finish out the season. I'll be a little sorry to see the end of the snow but when it does go I hope it goes fast. Think I'm ready to swap the blower for a mower deck.

The Season in Review with Pictures

Keep the photos coming! I like em’ all. 4/6/23 – Guess it ain’t over til’ it’s over. Spring snow looks innocent enough but…. Run out of rider talent in the wrong spot and it’s a long way down to solid ground. The shovel saw some use.

The Season in Review with Pictures

Some amazing photos! This thread gets my vote for "Thread of the Year".

    Polaris Mutt Mod

It’s funny how the even the most basic things can be a battle. The plan seemed simple enough: Assemble the brake master cylinder and bench-test it and the brake caliper. This is how things went today, I hope you will find this update entertaining. Upon assembly, the master cylinder wouldn’t...

    Canada Fishing is Back

Agree, but it will be a while up here, we were drilling through over 3 ft. of ice in spots.

    Polaris is brilliant

This is actually pretty cool. Just for fun, I checked it against the website for a reasonably close dealer's used inventory, which might be tougher to track, and the marketplace did have sleds I compared. Their "Sort by Location" distances need a little refinement, as one sled was listed as 37...

    Canada Fishing is Back

For you hardwater guys out there: A friend and I made our annual March trip to the Canadian side of the lake last week. Bite wasn’t as crazy as we’ve seen some springs but then, it looks and feels nothing like spring over there. Weather was cool but mostly sunny which made for some beautiful...

    Polaris Mutt Mod

Seems like my spare time lately has been totally taken up by riding and/or ice fishing and it looks like that will be the case for at least the next week or so. Looks like winter isn’t going anywhere soon. I did mange to slip in a little driveshaft work today. The idlers are basically...

3 Old Guys Ride to Alaska

What they are doing at times is leaving the sleds behind to break a stretch of trail and then going back and picking them up. Guess it's still better than trying to drag a sled along on the first pass.

3 Old Guys Ride to Alaska

If you've been following their journey, you've seen this photo which gives one an idea of some of the conditions they are encountering. But reading their account of the trip though, they're taking everything in stride and you can tell they been through this before. It looks like they are doing...

Another diversion of the best kind. An old riding buddy from the Cities made a trip north to visit his parents in the area so we were able to put in a day on the sleds. As I’m sure I’ve said multiple times before, after at least two years of almost no riding of any kind, it sure feels good to...

    Can Dogs Tell Time?

That is one pathetic look. The "experts" say they don't have a sense of time. Maybe that's mostly true with regard to the passage of time but I do believe they have some kind of internal clock where they associate a time with a particular event. Our Pomeranian will start bugging my wife to...

Yeah, thought I was done riding....guess not, we got pounded in northern MN last night.

3 Old Guys Ride to Alaska

I would love to make a trip like this, it’s like a backpacking trip on steroids. I know for a fact though, at 74, I wouldn’t even begin to have the stamina and strength to average a couple of hundred miles a day over every flavor of terrain and conditions for three weeks straight. Which is why I...

    Polaris Mutt Mod

As long as you bring home fish all is forgiven. A couple of quick hits here. It was nice to work on a few things and not have my hands dripping with fiberglass resin. It was like Chevy Chase in the Christmas Vacation tree sap scene every time I touched something. Starting to test-fit some...
