What Do We Do Now? UPDATE

Thanks for the update Gary!. I’m sure it’s possible to track how many times a person visits this site from a particular IP address in a day. Think I’d be surprised at my numbers. A day wouldn’t be the same without the JohnDee.com.

    When You Were Fifteen...

Had my “farm” driver’s license so I would be driving my 54 Dodge into town unsupervised for the weekly Friday night cruise, which made me a legend in my own mind. Also spending some time with my first girlfriend. Didn’t work out in the end but looking back, probably a good thing.

Good to hear from you Kirk. As you’ve probably seen, your donated clutch is working perfectly. Good thing I don’t work with foam for a living, this is just part of the remnants from the seat work. Beer foam yes, seat foam no. Seat is close enough to make a cover, I might have to do some...

Some nice thoughts here! I think you guys reflect what John wanted this board to be. Lately I’ve been thinking about how I'd like to finish off the storage side of the sled garage to give the finished sleds a proper place to be kept. Probably wouldn’t take too much money - some insulation...

It took a few re-writes to get this written. It’s a bit of a departure from my usual updates and a little long but I hope people will take the time to read it. Reflecting on all things for which we are thankful, I have much to thank John for. Through this website he has provided a forum that...

    SnowGoer Tribute to John

A friend sent me this article about John. It is an excellent tribute to John (and hard to read with a dry eye). I think it puts into perspective just how big his impact was on the snowmobiling sport and the people he met. SnowGoer John Dee Tribute

    1974 John Deere 300 with a 292 Kohler

Euphoric1 did a great job of covering the details so there’s not a lot I can add. We did do a Mikuni conversion on my brother’s 72 John Deere 340 (CCW) I know it’s not necessary apples to apples with the smaller Kohler but it might give you some things for reference. We used a 34 mm Mikuni...

Wow, does this put everything in perspective. Sometimes I think we tend to forget just how precious life is. John touched so many people and he was a true friend. I’m a better person for having known him. I am so sad to hear this and I can’t imagine how tough this is for the family. My heart...

I think the Mutt will be a cool little sled but not being a numbers matching ATX it wouldn’t command anywhere near the kind of money of that the real thing would. I think we’re talking $1500 - $1800 for the right buyer. I hate to think what that would work out to per/hour after expenses, but I...

Glad you guys are still hanging in there! It’s not the longest project you have had to try to follow but we’ve certainly blown well past the one year mark. Curiosity got the best of me today so I hacked up a few pieces of scrap foam and spent a little time trying to visualize a seat shape. You...

Two days of almost nonstop rain/snow mix gave me the opening I needed to get back in the shop and work on the hood. Seemed like the headlights took forever. The originals are no longer available so I went with GE 4411’s, which are often used in older tractors. They fit the openings but...

Thanks guys! I need to get this project wrapped up sooner than later, have a ton of other sled maintenance work in the queue for this winter. Wait until I get the racing stripe on the hood, should be good for at least another 10 mph.

I been working on a sled trailer, hoping to get it ready to sell before the snow flies but guess I missed that deadline. A little wet snow today and more to come over the next day or so. Anyway, I figured I better show some sign of life on the project. It occurred to me that I hadn’t test-fit...

Not something to be concerned about at all. I really enjoy it when people share some of their experiences and accomplishments and believe me, your place is an accomplishment. I keep looking at your photo and thinking about what it must be like to sit out on that deck on a nice day/evening...

What Will You Be Riding This Winter?

Nice T'NT's RV245! Beautiful job on the 72!. A little jealous looking at the sleds in this thread. Nothing anywhere new for me. Will use the 2000 XC for the trail, otherwise, spend some time on the old 2013 RMK.
