    Illinois Tolls Increase Again

Interesting. I have had a ipass for 20 years and the current transponder says it is good till 2025. I haven’t been back there in many years but use it for NY when I go camping in the summers and most recently through Louisville. Guess I will need to close the account and buy one from NY.

    Illinois Tolls Increase Again

Wow. So glad I left there years ago. Not to self: do not use toll road with my RV when I return to see family and friends!

    One of your memorable moments

New years eve 78/79. 4am. Only two of us awake and the other guy was really hammered. Came out of the bathroom and saw he had fired up his sled. Suited up quickly to haul his a$$ back inside. He pinned it and was gone. Fired my sled up and chased his tail light across M28 and down the road maybe...

    One of your memorable moments

Sometime after 2001 while I was riding solo out of Marquette (technically Harvey MI). The last day of my trip on a Friday the snow guns off Lake Superior began overnight. I decided to go to Big Bay and left at 7am. Once past M41 it was deep and kept getting deeper all the while it just kept...

What trip(s) have you cancelled so far?

My neighbor made a point of water skiing on Xmas day here in Traverse City. Waving as he went by our house in 58 degree weather.

    The Journal; Thoughts from Gracie

Thank you Grace. Beautiful words. Look for signs he is thinking of you as you continue life’s journey as it helps soften the loss and keeps him in your heart. Bless you and your mom.

Let’s see your Caliber carbide slide setup in You in-line trailer

I found that my carbides did a number on the piano hinge on the rear ramp. Consider old pieces of hyfax before and after the hinge to lift the ski above the hinge. They will wear down and cutting down one side of the “u” channel of the hyfax will give a slight angle of approach.

    Inline trailer loading

Balance the load. That said, short tracks are just fine navigating a v nose either loading or unloading. Long tracks and wide ski sleds have difficulty making that v turn.

    John Dee

Nora & Gracie, so sorry for your loss. If it can bring any comfort to you know he made an impact on so many for so many years. The word Legend has been used often because he earned it. His act of creating this site brought many many people together across the globe that otherwise would never...

Let’s see your Caliber carbide slide setup in You in-line trailer

From my experience on several 23’ (Legend) inlines, don’t waste your time on making a curve inside the trailer for the front ramp door. My 137” four strokes could never make that curve w/o stopping and manipulating the front or rear of the sled. I found the best set up was to run separate guides...

Finally some real EV/Truck stats and...... WOW!!!

Let’s not forget who owns the vast majority of lithium mines in the world. OPEC has controlled oil and won’t China control all things battery? It’s like we are just marching right into a different brick wall only this time we will have our own mfr’s dependent for fundamental components to a...

Finally some real EV/Truck stats and...... WOW!!!

As for my ride and my lithium conversion on my RV 3 years ago, I don’t see a battery degradation of 10%. Clearly allot of factors will make them plus or minus (heat/cold, charging above 80%, fast charging, etc). Your other comments are spot on. I got that sales pitch as to why I should buy the...

Finally some real EV/Truck stats and...... WOW!!!

About 4 months ago I began looking to replace my BEV before the end of lease. The dealer was pushing the replacement BEV (priced ~$13k higher than my deal just over 2 years ago net of the $7.5k credit). Trade value was estimated at about $43k. I decided against going forward replacing it. Two...

Finally some real EV/Truck stats and...... WOW!!!

Back to some actual costs associated with BEV ownership. I last mentioned the possibility of a drive motor failure. Well I know of a couple units going down. One taken care of under warranty and the other outside the warranty. Final cost for replacement, $18,000. My “leased” vehicle has two...

    Any upcoming trips?

Thank you. You just jogged my childhood memories of summers in Birchwood, grandpas pickup and day trips to Slim Creek Flowage. I know it’s not Chippewa but I always confused the two as a kid.

    What Happened to John!

I struggle every time I mow my daughter’s property, ROPS up or ROPS down? Her trees are generally young but then there is that old apple tree. Not to mention I have to mow the ditch adjacent to the hwy where I feel I could roll over with a strong wind (motorcycle riders-I never blow grass...
