Does Anybody have the real story on Cell coverage in Northern WI and the Yoop?

20 years ago I rode the train into Chicago everyday with a guy that called himself “doc”. He worked for AT&T and carried (more like clutched) a duffle bag. His then functional phone was one of the original “brick” models. He said they pushed 6+ watts versus the never ones that were regulated to...

Trail 2 - Losing a section due to change of ownership

I hope that the County & Township trustees take note and don’t make the economy hostage to one business. Building codes should be maintained and a “no variance” policy observed. This facility is responsible for the safety of many many people.

Does Anybody have the real story on Cell coverage in Northern WI and the Yoop?

I had been Sprint 20 years until 2016ish. Had Verizon since and service has been as spotty as was Sprint. My riding buddies also have Verizon and the same phone. At the same place same time, I get zero service and they have been good, WTF. Verizon uses cdma and ATT & Tmobile/Sprint use a...

    One Arm Snowmobiling

I have always said my brother is better with one arm than I am with both. I got the brains, kind of, sort of. Appreciate the referral. Thank you.

    How was your camping season?

Road America and Watkins Glen. Both great camping and racing. Planning on getting out west next year but wife’s knee surgery from a year ago may set me back, again.

    One Arm Snowmobiling

Looking for people’s thoughts and insights. My brother lost his lower right arm almost 40 years ago. He modified his 82 Yamaha to allow for left hand operation. The sled is now too old and tired to service. What newer sleds do people see as modifiable for him and how? He isn’t looking for high...

Map's for Marquette and Munising areas

The old KI Sawyer airbase, now a “International airport”, does have logging (so I am told) and you can ride up to the base. The fuel by the Marquette 41 tunnel is about 1/4 mile+ of parking lot riding as the gas station next to the trail turned into a cannabis business (if I recall correctly)...

My First Snowmobile was a .....

1972 Yamaha EW433 with two speed transmission. I ran what is now trail 417 between Munising and Marquette before it was a trail complete with train rails still present. Great sled other than starting issues. Low gear allowed for deep snow and woods riding.

Map's for Marquette and Munising areas

A couple years back they installed a tunnel under 41 on trail 14 to Big Bay. Makes crossing 41 sooo much safer. However the north side of 41 has been developed and makes for some parking lot driving if you go off trail and head to stores, gas, food, etc. Give us an idea where you want to start...

Map's for Marquette and Munising areas

Try Alger, Marquette & Luce counties for maps. Generally the maps aren’t there but with the local businesses. The Michigan DNR maps online can be helpful and many are now using Polaris’s trail map. The Polaris app is a crowd based mapping so it can give you some live feedback for food, gas and...

    Gifts or perks for landowners

I suspect there is ”red tape” issues with governmental agencies handing out $’s. Someone would scream it is a violation of fair practice with any gov entity unless the monies are requisitioned through a bid process.

To cover or not to cover?

The key to any RV is to routinely remove and replace the caulking every 3-7 years (depends on sun exposure, oxidation, etc). The rooftop plastics, AC cover, vent windows, fan vents, and such also degrade so it is a good idea to make a simple breathable protective cover for them. Depending on...
