    Tales from the Trails

Guess I'll go first to break the ice, no pun intended. It's Christmas Eve and Dad has a new Arctic Cat delivered. My brother and I rode that Panther around the buildings, in a circle, with the family dog chasing us at every turn, barking his head off. Expecting a "Silent Night" the neighbors...

    Arctic Cat layoffs etc.

Could we see a repeat of the early 80's when Cat went dark only to come back with a new product line? Probably not in this day and age. It's safe to say that Kawasaki won't put a dime into the snow business unless there's a favorable return on investment. After a no-snow year and now a glut of...

    Fear the Deere

Kelly, I think all of us are amazed at your skill set that the rest of us only dream of. You've been turning out museum pieces from barn-finds since when? The attention to detail and expertise is off the charts for us commoners. You're fortunate to have the skills and the wife that allows you to...

    Saving the concrete floors

I've probably tried them all over the years. Some were better than others and the following video shows what I've found to be the best/easiest/well built/etc. It breaks down for easy storage when not in use. It works well on concrete and can be upgraded for gravel.

What year did you sign-up on the John's Site?

Following up from my earlier post. That date at the bottom of the sign-on page states 1998-2024, all rights reserved. John may have put a copyright on his work before moving to the U.P. He spent a year in D.C. with the weather service before all of this developed. I know he was sensitive to not...

What year did you sign-up on the John's Site?

There's some question as to when the site began. I did a little checking and found that John moved to the Keweenaw in January of 1999. Sometime after that, JohnDee.com was created, most likely in 2000 or 2001.

What year did you sign-up on the John's Site?

I have a habit of going down these Rabbit Holes on the internet. Looking for one thing and finding another. That's how I came across John Dee.com in the early 2,000's. At the time, my riding group was looking for Trail Conditions for the U.P. and I came upon a place called Snow Central. Those...

    Arctic Cat layoffs etc.

It's the current business model for most corporations. Squeeze every nickel out of it and move on. Personally, I don't feel the gloom and doom that others have mentioned. Here's my reasoning; Cat still is an innovator, the Catalyist shows they're still developing. By comparison, Yamaha coasted...
