I see that there is not to many campgrounds in the Keweenaw, so my question is could my wife and I just go down some side roads or logging trails and set up a tent to get away from the whole campground thing. When we do camp it is with a tent anyways. Has anyone done this for any lenght of time?

Anyone know of good lakes to fish and places to stay in the Keweenaw or Houghton counties. We would be looking at some sort of cottage type place to stay? Also we have a 18 ft boat so no small hard to get to lakes. Also do we need to get out of state fising permits just like snomobiling?

How long do you think it would take (in miles or hrs) to ride from St.Germain WI to Calumet MI. I think it would take the longest zig zagging out of WI, or at least it will feel that way.

Why don't I ever see many tracks on lakes in the U.P. like up in the Keweenaw. Is the ice unsafe because it can't freeze good with all the early snow? I know they are kinda slushy underneath sometimes. They would make for nice wide open play areas.
