Anybody know what voltage I should be getting to run the 2-up handle bar warmers?

I have 4800 miles on the machine and it started making a noise at about 5500 RPM through both hard acceleration and deceleration. It goes away above and below that RPM. I was hoping for a belt problem but to no avail. I have not done anything with the clutches and the noise is coming from that area. Is it time and if so what to do?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Sounds like a clutch inspection is in order, check for a broken spring (Yes, it happens and is hard to see sometimes), check to be sure the rollers are moving freely, and the weights have not egged the holes nor worn the pins.

Rollers? The landings for the weights?

Correct. They should turn freely, and you can look for flat spots on them, or the weights. May need to take the clutch face off (6 bolts) to let them hang freely and be able to thoroughly inspect.

Not saying this is your answer, just trying to give a starting point.

Oh, if you do remove the face, be sure to mark it so it goes back on EXACTLY the same, it is balanced as a unit.
