Make sure you ask the owner the history of the engine. The early series 3 engines were known to have issues. If they have owned it since new ask if it has the updated rings. Check the compression before you buy it. should be 130-135 psi range. Overall a fun sled. I kept mine for 5 years!

had the beaver tail, some think it looks goofy. I like it, keeps snow off your back and no roost.
no major motor problems, that was in 04. Most people updated to the straight rate springs on the front and the 04 sway bar, cornered a little flatter that way. Did have the older rear suspension, like the zx chassis from 99-03. It worked just fine. I got many miles of trouble free riding on mine. If the price is right, I wouldnt hesitate. Depending on the condition of everything of course. Best thing about the 03, they all had rebuildable shocks all around. only the X and high end ones had them in 04 and up.

I doubt there are any out there yet that have not had the update, If a dealer performed it, it would be on record for the serial # of the machine, just call a Doo dealer, give him the number and he can tell you anything a dealer has ever done to it.

I have a 03 and a 06 600 Rev. The 03 has 8655 miles on it the only problem that I ever had with it was the heated hand grips , runs great Still starts fist pull every time .Always thought the beaver tail was ugly I guess that other people did too that's why it was only around for 1 year. The big difference between the 06 and the 03 is gas mileage Almost double with the sdi
