'03 Rev Fuel Issue?

just rebuilt my 600 h.o. rev, prior to the crank bearing seizing up it ran great. Now with new motor in the sled it hard starts after being warm and acts like it is not getting the right amount of fuel. (one minute your blowing through a drift, the next it will barely move itself). It also runs best while half choke is on. The only thing that has changed since the rebuild is an added sno stuff can. I have cleaned and rebuilt both carbs and replaced reed boots as a result of this issue but has not cured anything. I have verified no fuel lines are kinked.
Is this a possible symptoms of a fuel pump failing?

Any ideas?

Greatly appreciated!

1. Remove your spark plug boots and look inside to verify the metal tabs are not broken. Intermittent connection will cause the hard starting and explain why you ocassionally dont have power.

2. Make sure your carb heaters are off. When starting a warm engine try giving it 1/4 throttle as you are pulling it over.

3. What jets are you running?

If it runs better on choke, then it is starving for fuel. Lien burn is not good anyway.

The choke thing improves the power or just runs better ??

have been running carb heaters off.

Stock jetting

will die out if i do not run 1/2 choke, even at half choke i can only get 40mph out of it.

Thanks in advance for the help!

If I had to guess, I would say that the Crank Seal is gone. Did you replace it? You say you redid the crank...but if the seal is bad this can cause what you describe. You can do a leak down test to see if this is your problem.

New crank seal was installed with crank. I know this is a big no no, but I just sprayed starting fluid by crank seal and got no reaction from sled. Out of process of elimination I re-installed stock exhaust and nothin changed.
How is a leak test performed?
