04 Suburban windows freezing/sticking?

Anybody else have an issue with these things? If there is an ounce of humidity in the air and its below 32 degrees my windows absolutly will not open. Tried lubeing the seals and nothing works. I just removed the outer sill rail and there is a ton of moisture in the seal. I am assuming thats what is causing the freezing issue. Is there a updated seal available?

Thanks in advance.

I wish I knew myself. It happens in my 04 Avalanche, much the same as yours. I've actually replaced both actuators in the fron windows, even still, when cold, very very slow to come back up, thats if I can get it down. They seem very week on them compared to the older ones that would go down in any weather.

Just an idea: Maybe take the door apart, and put plastic over the door or panel and put back together. Perhaps this will seal it from the inside warm air, which sounds like maybe it is leaking into the door and causing the frost??

My Avalanche does the same thing. It's the seal at the door where the window goes in. I just take a credit card or something and drag it across and it works.

There is a vapor barrior istalled from the factory. I don't think its being caused by condensation from temp difference because there was no moisture on the inner seal, only the outer one.

I also tried draggig something through, but it didn't work for me. Looking at the outer seal there are 2 lips, an upper and a lower. I think mine is freezing to the lower one which is about 2 inches down. Not sure what the heck you can do about it? You can't really put any kind of lube or silicone on the face of the seal as it would smere the glass. Thats why I was wondeing if there is a different type opf seal available. Oh well.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I've had a 2000, 2003 and now a 2007 Suburban. They all freeze. The only solution I have is to leave them slightly open while parked. This works for me unless it snows. :)

I have a 2001 Sub, 2002 GMC Pick-up and had 1999 "new body style" chevy pick up, , never had any of the windows freeze unless there was freezing rain. I always wipe down my trucks with a towel after washing and usually have a rain-X type product on the windows.
The rain-X stuff may not help as much as wiping down the truck after washing.

Dumb question but are the windows freezing or might you have bad/corroded connection at the master switch?

I never really thought about it cus everyone of my vehicles is like that. That is why I look for vents on the side of the dashboard when I buy vehicles. And tyeeman, I can't answer for anyone else but mine definatly freeze shut. When they let go there is a sudden "pop" when the seal lets go. I never really considered it a problem, more of a neasance. The problem I have is the wifes explorer's doors will freeze open every so often. I have tried everything on those dang locks but it seems like everytime she is in a hurry the dang things won't shut. (the daughter get's to hear creative language those days)...

Mine are definitley freezing on the seal also. It is not only after washing or freezing rain either. All there has to be is a bit of humidity in the air, a frost, a flake of snow, rain and then freezing temps, any moisture at all and these things are froze solid. The ol' laddy pulled the glass out of the regulator trying to get them open the other day, so its been elivated from a nuecence to a problem! lol

Mine freeze on my 2000 gmc as well unless I park it in the garage. I learned how to deal with it though, I quit smoking and going through the drive thru.

Guess I really didn't think about it but mine are froze too! I've had the heater on in the garage the last few weeks at 45 degrees and it must not be enough to dry out the seals overnight. Something doesn't seem right, must be that outer seal and the moister as the concenses seems to be. I have an 04 suburban too.

I have an 04 Durango and 05 Chrysler minivan......both of them freeze up. Pain in the butt at the drive thru's!! Even the side doors freeze on the van, I feel like I'm goin to rip the door handle right off. Its nice that we don't have THAT problem on our sleds! :) Guess it's not just a GM thing. I had a 05 burb and never a problem with freezing windows, it just didn't like pulling the big sled trailers. That's why there's a HEMI out front now.

I wish someone had a fix for this problem, it has been getting me for years. I do like leaving the window's cracked a little. Might try that. Less seal area to lock it up.
