Wouldn't start. Charged the battery and no luck. Tested the battery and it was bad. Bought a brand new battery and now it still won't start. It just clicks. Runs fine when I pull start it.

Bad starter??? How can I test that before buying a new one?

Any ideas?

Had the same issue with my dad's 03 Rancher. All it would do is click when you hit the starter button. Ending up being the starter as you said. But in the area of testing to see. All I can think of is pulling it off maybe? Not too sure. A new one installed cost around $200 at my local honda shop.

Put a test light on the starter cable or a volt meter and hit your start button. What happens? Does your light light up or voltage? If so your starter is bad, if not your starter relay is bad.

We had the exact same issue.

Battery was bad, so we replaced it. Still only a *click* when we hit the start button.

Check the grounds on the battery and the frame.

if they test out good, then I will bet it is the starter. We took ours to a standard starter/alternator shop and had it rebuilt for about $100.
