when your riding it will just quit like you hit the kill switch .the dash lights stay on but the other lights go out just like you hit the switch .it will restart right away most times .but sometimes it takes a few seconds .when it happens you can smell something hot .you can go for miles then the next time 100 yards .dont think its the kill switch because when it happens i will play with the switch makes no differents .i carry extra relays replaced them no change .i have read that the kill switches have alot of problems .i am going to start there .i have read you can take them apart .how ? any help would be great .thanks .

A friend was having the same problem on his Renegade. He thought it was the relays at first. Ended up being a bad wire or connection on the tps if I remember right.

check the voltage regulator. And the plugs for the regulator. I had that happen to me and the plugs for the regulator were melted.

Also....make sure all your grounds are clean and tight, and check the 30 amp fuse to make sure the contacts are clean and not corroded. These may or may not be your problem, but they don't cost anything to check and it's easy to rule them out. Start simple and work your way up.

check the way the wires are routed to the tps. Mine were shafed and the dealer put either shrink tube or taped it and rerouted it. It was rubbing on a cable or frame brace. Mine is 06 sdi. I took it to the dealer and they hooked it up to the computer. Good luck.
