It's the Voltage Regulator. I had this sled. Same thing happened. Easy fix, like $100. They are known to go bad.

I have this sled and I just replaced my voltage regulator about a month ago. It is about a 1/2 hour job. It cost about $180-$200. It is amazing how well my hand warmers work now. I have owned this sled since it was new and I never once switched my hand warmer switch from the high setting, now after replacing the voltage regulator, I now have to adjust my settings and most of the time it is set on the lowest setting even when it is really cold out.

did you buy oem or aftermarket one dealers are saying vendor delay now . where did ya get it ? Was it a part that was relocated to belt cover . thanks for the info my sled id 400 miles away need to get it right the first time .

yes it is the one that goes on the belt deflector. you can find for about 160 if you look on polaris parts website. Dont try to remove the old one just unlug and plug new in

I bought mine at Parts Pit Stop for 175.99 plus shipping for a total $189. At the time mine was delayed also. I used bolts on mine also to the belt cover.

On the side of the voltage regulator that faces down on the belt guard, it is only a gel type surface so I also used a metal plate that you would use for a double switch electrical junction box in a house as a little extra precaution in between the new regulator and the belt guard that you are bolting it on. (I just did this to help add a little protection in case of a severe belt blow out and it coming up denting the belt cover severely and possibly damaging the regulator). I might of did a little over kill for this but it sure beats waiting for another part if it got damaged again and it only cost me another $1.

wonder why no one has them, is it common for them go go out?

It is very common on these sleds, that is why Polaris came out with the new one that you just bolt onto the belt guard instead of having to try and get the old one out. Probably should have been a recall. The sad thing is that they jacked up the price on the new one also.

Its one thing to have problems but not being able to get parts to fix stuff is silly . Back in 2006 i bought 2 new polaris sleds . between my wifes sled blowing up with 100 miles on it and all the trips to dealer with my sled updates misc problems . its a joke i have been riding for 30 plus years and i think i want my old reliable sleds back . come on its a sled been building them for years lets get it right .

Looks like Partspits is on b/o until early March. I have an extra one....shoot me a pm if you still need it. I bought one when my HW weren't putting out any heat and it didn't make a difference so I took it off. Let me know.

There's a dealer in Munising that has a couple in stock. I thought I needed one last weekend but it turned out I didn't.

Very easy to install. Don't need to pull anything apart - just drill two holes in the belt cover.

Try Ske's snowmobile parts used, but good parts. Hermantown, MN. (218) 624-2183
Good guy to deal with. Get you back on the trail, while it's still wonderful.
