07 Apex Attack GT Improved Gas Milage??

Had new donuts installed under warranty in Spring 09 on my 07 150 4s Apex Attack GT then stored all season until now. First 2 rides this year both 100 mile rides & got 16+ then 15+ miles per gallon. Last year & year before mired around 12.5 miles per gallon but a few times jumped to 14 miles per gallon. When dealer installed donuts there was a problem with a kinked gas tank vent line that kept ballooning the gas tank until we found the problem. I have been easing into higher speeds & ready for WOT riding now so lighter on throttle but hit triple digits on Trail 2 today. Now I'm wondering what caused the improved gas milage? Any ideas? What milage are you getting with Apex GT Attacks or Apex LTXGTs?

Not sure how those repairs would help milage. How many miles do you have on it? The gas milage is supposed to get better after 1000 miles. I get about 16 mpg cruising on my 07 apex gt and it drops a bit when doing alot of wot pulls.

About 4,800 miles now. Everything the same with new hyfax but did install new belt towards end of season & had deflection corrected clutch cleaned in Spring when I had Rich Clutch Tool installed at same time new donuts were installed. Got 18 miles per gallon during break in but kept under 45mph for 1st 500 miles.

What is a Rich Clutch Tool? Do you remember at what RPM your sled used to cruise at? Best guess here is that you have improved your clutching by cleaning and adjusting so you are now cruising at reduced rpm's which translates into better mileage.

Grub: Rich clutch tool simular to doo clutch tool set up. Best $25 I spent. Those 150 Yam clutches very difficult to separate sheaves to install new belt. Now just twist in Rich tool handle sheaves separate slip on new belt done in seconds no grunting. Every Yam owner should have a Rich clutch tool. Standard clutch tool is one of the many things Doo got right.

Ulmer has the same thing and I think his is $20 give or take. I think rich raised his price to $30 but not positive. And yes best invention and worth every penny...

if you are looking for fuel milage you have the wrong sled vector should have been the sled of choice !! i also have a 07 Apex er and was first disapointed with fuel milage now i just dont care it varries so much i just go out and enjoy my ride . I am a very Agressive rider I have it set up perfect and sent it to haulk for improvments that helped it alot . clutch overdrive---exaust--fuelmanagent computer . i origanaly had 150 hp -- now more around 165-175 hp . average about 16 mpg it depends how im riding ect . I know a few of you are saying to your selves here we go another dumb #@% nope just wanted more speed at top end to piss off a buddy or two to knock them off there pedistal . the exaust was a tad loud at first so i added silencers 1 1/2 inchers to both pipes and tip downs now it doesnt ring in my helmet and it still barks a bit . but its quiet to a point unless at high rpms . BREAKING TRAIL GOING SLOW about 10 mpg at 10-25 mph with snow comming over the wind shield . normal riding 35-60 mph 16 or so mpg.. new belt helps alot every so often . I myself would gladly take a Vector gt 120 hp fuel inj over my apex due to my riding style and what i put on in a ride for milage im a long distancer average 150-350 miles in a day 2 to 2 1/2 tanks of gas witch is considerably less $$ than what some buds spend in there 2 strokes by half . you bought a big dog sled dont worrie about gas milage and just ride it and enjoy what you have otherwise trade it in on a vector gt-ltx ect. 18-23 mpg avarage . my bud has one thats how i know about what they get for milage . enough said im done enjoy a keep the rubber side down and 87 oct in the tank .

Whoa snowbullet Apex Attack perfect sled for me just trying to figure out what changed milage. Happy you like your mods but I always run bone stock engine keep warranty on stock but try to tweak stock to max performance. 120hp not enough for me & I'm aware the 120 gets great gas milage just looking for reason my 150 improved mpg this year.

its ok IM Sorry I went off on a tagent :: as they break in the milage gets better in some instances .. some times not toatally depends on the rider and how he squeezes the trigger .. . it might be that your slides are worn down about 1/16th and the track is looser than when you bought her less resistance on track so we assume that less pull or bog on eng sled moves easyer threw the snow means less hp or rpm's more mpg does that make sence??

Had new hyfax 2x since I bought her. I'm thinking I have not been pushing thru deep snow & lighter on the hammer so far this year. New belt & clutch cleaned & tuned may be big reason too. I'll know more when I hit the hammer thru all this new snow. I'm not unhappy with 12.5 as lowest mpg but liked the 15-16mpg. Nice surprise never got that before with 150.
