I got a new left over 09 apex last spring and rode the Up last wk the temps were around 10 to 18 degrees and my hand warmers just sucked they just do not get hot enough compared to my 05 sabercat warmers Just wondering if i complain to my dealer would he fix it and is there some sort of upgrade or a recall i do not know about. I have read here and there about some quick fixes like spray foam in the bars But i also have heard of some guys taking it to the dealer to get it corrected. Any help would be appreciated I Really like the ride but cant enjoy it as much when your hands hurt from the cold.

On my son's 08 Vector the heaters were marginal from day one. We cut off the grips, carefully removed the heater elements, added a layer of cork under the elements, then reinstalled the elements and new grips. It made a huge improvement, took one hour and cost $30. I learned this trick and got the materials from Nelsons Speed Shop in Greenville, MI.

Adding the cork stopped the handlebars from being a heat sink, which pulled all the heat away from the grips...now it all comes out. Big change.

I have heard good things about the Yamaheater too....but that option didn't yet exist when we tweaked the grips on our Vector.

I would think the combination of the two would create grips that stayed warm well below zero.

I have a 09 apex and had the same problem. I bought the Yamaheater from Rock this year at Novi. It works very well. It is a plug in and ready to go. Plus if you have questions he will help you out.

Hey guys, I just quickly read the install instructions on line for the Yamaheater and perhaps I missed something. It says after completing the install to test the functionality by pressing the blue hand warmer button until zero bars appear on your indicator although this is when the Yamaheater works? Is the Yamaheater adjustable for hand and thumb like the original warmers? I also use gauntlets as mentioned above when it get's really cold out but might be willing to try this product on my 09' Nytro XTX. Thanks for any answers anyone can provide to my questions.

Electraglide1- with the yamaheater on and the gauge reading no bars this is when you are getting full power to your grips. This is what you want when you start out getting ready to take off. Once your hands get too warm you can then use the blue switch to use any of the stock settings, from one bar to full bars. Hope this makes sense.
