I'm not sure on exact gas milage but I rode with a friend who just bought the xf1100 and everytime I filled up at 29.00 his fill up was around 18.00. I have an 04 Switchback so it's 2 stroke but his fill up was very similar to a 4 stroke apex that was in our group also. We always filled up at the same time so there were no extra miles on my tank versus his. One problem he did have was the sled at times would not go back into forward after engaging the reverse. It sounded like the gears were grinding and that something just wasn't going in properly. We towed it for about 3 miles after we couldn't get it back into forward and gave up. He tried it just out of curiousity to get it back into forward at a stop sign and the thing worked again. So we unhooked the tow and he rode it the rest of the way home. Tried to duplicate the problem the next day and it did it again. This time he rocked the sled from side to side and what ever was not allowing it to engage in forward fell into place and it worked again.

the new cats do not have a mech reverse anymore its ski doos technology so it shuts the motor off and then on in rev. polaris also uses this type, you should not hear a clunking noise at all

You can't make a 4s go in reverse like a 2s, so they have to mechanical.

electic acuated mechanical reverse, and they are all not working properly.

yamaha had that problem on many sleds. I had the phazer Mtn Lite and you'd have to jerk the sled around sometimes. I kept the sled for 3 years as it only happened once in a while and a little jerk would 100% allow it to shift so no big deal to me.

The reverse on my Diamond Drive Cat has never missed a beat, my wife's D.D Cat made the grinding noise twice when we first got it and never did it again in five years. However the mechanical reverse on my wife's old sled (different brand sled), would grind 2-3 times a season. And the dealer could never fix the problem. Maybe the problem is my wife?

oops sorry guys your correct only the 2s have motor reverse, I also had a 97 phazer that the reverse stuck a few times but yamaha had a fix it kit and I never had any issues after that.
