Have not ridden south of lake Gogebic, if one was to take 13 south to trail 2 west towards marenisco 1a north, I cant tell on a pdf map, does trail 2 cross into Wisconsin at all? and can you continue trail 2 west and come up through porcupine mtns without crossing into Wisconsin? I have never rode south of Gogebic and we don't ride in Wisconsin at all so don't purchase a trail permit for Wi. I remember years ago crossing into Michigan from hurley and coming up past ski hill into porcupine mtn state park, my question is, is there a way to loop down south of Gogebic head west and pick this trail up I believe was in ironwood without having to go into Wisconsin and is there a way to obtain a trail map of area via mail? the keewenaw map I have and use doesn't go down that far. Thanks!

I thought 13 south was closed for logging,it may be open now. That trail you were asking about going to the porcupine mts from wakefield north was 11 also called south boundary road is not open for the last 3?years. You still ride a portion of 11 but only from 102 north.

I know that mspease will chime in here but...13S is open all the way from Bergland to trail 2. However, the "top" portion sounded like it was road riding as the trail is closed for logging. Then, south of the Root Cellar is open via the trail.

In a few weeks, my group is considering taking 1S, 2W, 8W into Ironwood and then take trail 160 to the Wisco border...and back.
Same deal though, not buying WI passes so will need to turn around before.

haven't been through porkies for a long time, is trail 11 the one that basically was the road that went through the park? its closed? looks like on interactive map that 102 runs into 11 and then up to 1 at lake of clouds, is there a reroute then of 11 or does 102 end then? and do you have to turn around and backtrack? I just remember riding through park and the beautiful I believe Hemlock trees? that were so green was almost surreal, its probably been 20 years since I have ridden through there and we are adding 3 more days to our trip and wanted to take wife through there before the big group gets there.

Trail 11 (South Boundary Road) is open from 102 north up to LOC & yes you can ride to the top of the Porkies inside the park. The portion of trail 11 he was talking about that has been closed for a few years is past the trail 102 intersection heading south down toward Wakefield/Bessemer.

I was up there the past 2 weeks. New years week 102 hadnt been groomed but 11 was. Last week 102,to 11 was groomed no bumps did not go up to lake of the clouds, just tok 11 to konteka 1 back to bergland. Worst spot i rode last week was the section of 13 from 100 north where you have to ride on the road, it was smooth but sled kept getting hot if i didnt keep riding snow banks.

That is correct. 13S from Bergland is all road riding all the way until 2 miles past The Root Cellar, then you can get back on trail 13 and take it down to 2. I also read where they may be opening trail 13S from Bergland soon. Trails in the Lake Gogebic area were fantastic and they groomed almost every one of their trails every night we've been here this week. Just a fabulous job!

that's very good news, lets hope they do reopen 13s! The last time I was in silver city if I recall there were no longer any open gas stations has this changed? any recommended places to stop for a bite in Marenisco trail accessible?

There is a new gas pump at the AmericInn in Silver City. Also 91 octane premium at The Konteka in White Pine. Not sure on a place to eat in Marenisco.
