16 near Crystal Falls bad water hole

I'm guessing 8 miles or so East of Crystal Falls there is a nasty water hole, actually a small stream running across trail.

Based on 8" thick chunks of ice hanging on trees the water dropped about 2 feet.

So I assume you were not able to cross it then? Were able to get around through the woods or have to back track?

After staring at it for 5 minutes,,,, it didn't go away, so we did cross. It was only about 8"-10" deep but both edges of ice were on a skew.

I was apprehensive about it with the "tippy" Venture GT.

Had I'd been paying attention I may have seen the alternative trail thru the woods, I would have taken it for sure!
