1995 XLT High Idle Issue

Hi, a buddy of mine has a 1995 XLT which once started if you blip the throttle the idle stays real high. Any thoughts on what the issue might be?

Idle issue

freind of mine had the same problem with a XLT and he would always flip the choke on and off every time we stopped to get it to idle down. I told him to get the carbs cleaned, and then it started better and idled rite at 1200 rpm. good luck.

Could be a 'couple of things, First go thru the carbs CLEAN them real good paying close attention to the pilot jets. Could be the over popular leaky needle & seat, causing excess fuel to travel down into crankcase-BAD- washes all oil from crank bearings & Piston skirts. Could be leaky carb boots also check them real good in lots of light @ room temp. Good luck.
I'm sure someone else will chime in with other possibility's.
