1996 Indy Lite bogging with throttle

I just purchased a 1996 Polaris Indy Lite. It ran fine while i was looking at it, we got it hot and it ran fine....ran it across the yard to load it. I got it home, warmed it up for my son to see and shut it down. I went to start it up to load it into the trailer and it would bog down when I gave it throttle. It idles just fine. Called the previous owner and he said that NOTHING like that ever happened to him in the past...in fact he said it is the best running sled he has ever owned. I have no reason not to believe him. Where should I start? Plugs/fuel/carb?
any and all help is appreciated!!

I would start by replacing the plugs if that doesnt work check the fuel lines make sure there are no leaks and replace the fuel filter. If niether of those things work clean the carbs.

In addition to the above post^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

pump out ALL the old fuel, (put it into your daily driver with 3/4 of a tank) and add FRESH fuel.

I never run any small engines with "old fuel"

As others said, clean the carbs, blow out the mains + PILOT jets.

Take a look inside the gas tank with a small flashlight.

Look to see if the pickup line is still there.

After several years, the fuel hardens the lines, and they start to fall apart

secondary spring sacked out, causing it to start in a "high gear" , old belt, dirty primary, sticking weights, mouse nest in exhaust, bad fuel, dirty carbs, faulty throttle switches, low compression, broken piston skirt, old rings, carb boots rotten, bad plugs, broken wires. Need more info but these are common "bog" issues. Good luck

Check the plugs to see if they are soaked with fuel and very wet. If so, your fuel pump diaphragms could be shot. Another way to test it, is to lift the back of the sled up with a good stand, start the sled and pin the throttle down. It should go through a bog phase and then burn up all the fuel and reach it's peak rpms. Would try this first before you start to tear into it.

What was the temp outside when you tried to start it? I had my wife's 98 Indy 500 bog on a warm day (40F) after we shut if off for a little bit. It would start fine but would not take any gas, just bog. I lowered the needle down and ran fine after that. They always jet those things fat from the factory.

Check your choke, I had the same thing happen and they were stuck in the choke position, run fine when cold but once it was warmed up it bogged.

Thanks for all the tips. As soon as I get some free time I will try these out. This sled is #2 on the fix list and I am only allowed 1 in garage to fix at a time! I am replacing gears on a mini z. Anyone have any suggestions on what size i should use to increase speed a bit? Thanks again!
