Believe this module is bad on my sled. When I get the Module nice and warm she runs great. Sit outside overnight and it bogs almost like dropping a cylinder. no power and peaks at 7K rpm. Clean carbs, fresh fuel and new plugs.
Thoughts?

The CDI can become a problem with runability and it is not checkable. It does regulate the timing curve but before you dish out big money for a nonreturnable part, start checking other components:
Binding primary (pucks could be dirty and sticking in the towers)
Broken primary spring
Over stretched belt
Leaking/cracked/broken exhaust (even plugged muffler from broken baffle)
coil, coil wires, spark plug caps
pull carbs and check intake boots and reeds.
Dirty/sticking secondary
Check to see if your motor has moved causing bad alignment.

I have seen very few that fail and when they do the sled doesn't run at all!!

I lost a module on a sled and it was complete death of sled, had to get the new module. No way to test. When discussing repair they said they are supposed to work or not, so that should not be the issue.

The MPEM on my 2000 MXZ gave up the ghost with only 70 miles on the sled. Same symptoms -- if warm or brought inside, it would start. Outside over night, forget it. Back then it was a $250 part. Of course, it was under warranty but it still cut a trip short because the local dealer didn't have one in stock.

I have not seen that but anything is possible. It should be easy to check. The module is in a great location to "pop" off and bring inside over night. If it runs like a race horse with a warm module and like "bunny with slippers" with a cold module, you will have a good diagnosis. Order Up!!!!!
