I have a 2000 XCSP 500 that is using a ton of oil. The fuel usage is slightly above normal but not like the oil!. I have heard that the oil pumps fail to full flow, is there a way to test the oil pump?

Thanks!

Ive got the same sled since new. It used a quart for 100 miles when new then i adjusted the pump down to about a quart for 160 miles, I dont feel safe going any less.

I have a 2002 XCSP700 that uses about half the oil of this 500. I have had the sled since 2003. The oil consumption has changed, I would say that it uses a quart in 70-80 miles. I have checked the alignment, it is right on.

How long has the sled been using a lot of oil, the 2000 500 XCSP's were set way to rich from the factory, I had one and the first time that I used it I went 90 miles and the low oil light had been on a while. I put a quart in it and the light still was blinking on and off. We had to adjust the oil pump way down, and I know a few other people that had that problem when they were new. If it just started doing it then it could be something different.

I have one of these sleds and it was using alot of oil, I found that the spring on the pump wasn't strong enough to return the arm back to its correct location at idle, I ended adding an old throttle return spring to the oil pump arm.
