just bought it and noticed there is no carb heat. is this normal for these? should I add it? what does it do exactly. I have theories but don't really know for sure. anything else I should know about the sled? 7400 miles, starts on first pull from cold. figured I'd do new rings just so I know and clean power valves.

Some came with carb heat and some did not...i have one that does not have it and my buddy has one that has it. I would not add it. I have almost 13,000 original miles on mine. It lets heated coolant flow around the carbs to prevent them from freezing up. I think it is used if you ride in alot of powder or follow in alot of snow dust.

At 7400 and starts on first pull, you shouldn't have to do anything but verify with a compression check. The first time I cleaned the rave valves was around 5000 miles and then again every year. Even running ski doo mineral oil they weren't that bad.

Depending on if you know the history or not of this sled, you are probably going to want to clean carbs, change out chaincase oil, go through the skid and bearings and replace any missing track clips.

These are great sleds...enjoy.

You should enjoy your 700. I had a 2000, and a 2002. 700 Doo's run real strong, put away many 800's, and stayed right with 700 Firecats. I may have a Dyno Port exhaust can for the 2002. 2001 should be the same. Mello sound, not loud.

The heated carbs are for extremely cold temps, so the carbs dont freeze shut. I wouldnt worry about it, even on sleds we have had them on, we never used them.

One other thing to have checked it the reeds and the reed cage(boots), I had a 02 that always had a slight bog or miss or something like that and it turned out to be a bad(cracked or something) almost from day one when the reeds were changed out problem solved. Other that that I loved thy sled.
