2002 yamaha venture 600 3cyl engine question

Was able to put over 600 miles this weekend in the U.P., and rode with a guy that had a 2004 Yamaha venture 700 3cyl. On average I was using almost 2.25 or 2.5 more gallons of gas than than the other sleds I rode with. My son rode a 2002 polaris 550 super sport. He too was using the same amount roughly as the 700. I did have the carbs cleaned recently. And my belt is about a year old. Any thoughts? The sled has about 6000 miles on it.
THANKS???

There are many variables like maybe track tension, possible drivetrain bearings could be starting to drag, the 700 Venture may not have had to push as hard as your 600 did to keep speed also. The 550 I'm guessing was probably the lightest sled being air cooled and also probably having the lightest driver on it so it most likely would have been using less gas also. Many variables here.

Yep, I averaged 13-15 mpg with my 01 SX700R, who needs an etech? Just need to get me another SX! LOL.

The polaris is fan cooled and alot lighter than the 2up-ventures. It makes sense. But the 700 is where I would of thought I would be a little closer in gas comparisions.
