Put on about 150 miles on my sled over two days and was riding in Northern Wisconsin. The steering was locking up . I couldn't turn the steering left. Then I would ride for about 10min to 20 mins and would lock up again. At first thought the skis were sticking to the ground with mild temperatures. Have new doolies on the sled, so thought that might be the problem. Brought to garage and lifted front end. Did it again. So packed the sled up and brought home to mechanic. OF course it didn't do it for him. But didn't ride the sled either. Has anyone had this problem. He we thinking I might have had ice in the belly pan that was frozen. Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated.

is there any visible damage to the belly pan where snow can get through and build up? Do you hear and squeaking when you turn it or feel any resistance? All the steering components are low in the belly pan on that sled so kinda hard to see. There under the ehaust manifold area and run to the outside. You may be able to see it with a good flashlight when it happens again. Also, check the rubber boots on the outside on the sled where they enter the belly pan, they may be ripped and snow, ice water getting in.

I dropped a plug in the belly pan and it would get into by the bell crank and stop it. I t took a while to find it, it only takes one bump for it to move.

Drop a spark plug down there maybe? Or just needs greased/lubed

Thanks for the ideas will check. The grease was oozing out of joints, so if it can be greased its been lubed. Since we have a ton of snow in Chicago..will ride this weekend to see if it reappears.

NO Damage to belly pan where snow
can get through. No noise. it just locked up when im going to turn left. Will try to turn sled on side to see if anything changes if a plug or something did fall on the underside.
thanks
