Working on my friends 2002 ZL 550 due to a bearing failure on the speedo side. I need to remove the bottom driveshaft gear and cannot get a socket or wrench to fit the bolt with the reverse retainer. I have tried a 14mm and a 9/16ths and cannot fit anything onto the bolt head. It seems like the retainer for reverse is blocking a proper fit ??? Any assistance would be awesome !

Can you see inside there, I believe there is a lock tab washer and it may be a 2 tab.
if you can see in there you have to use a screwdriver to bend the tab/tabs back away from the nut.

X2, there is a lock tab on those.

When you have it fixed, be sure to grease that bearing after every ride. The fitting is directly below your secondary clutch shaft on left side under the hood. Use low temp grease.
