2003 Polaris 550 Classic - fuel issue. Please Help

Went to take this sled out for it's first ride. It started fine, seemingly no issues. I got about 3 miles done the trail and it died. We checked the plugs had good spark, appeared to have run out of gas.

We towed it back to the cabin, started playing around with it we could get started again use ether. I the remembered an issue we with another sled a couple of years ago that had the gas tank vent tube scrimped. So we blew thru the tube and open the gas fill open. 2 pulls and it was running fine again. Took it out for a test run at about 3 miles it started dieing again. I opened the gas filler cap and started running fine again. When I blow thru the vent tube I have no problems blowing thru it.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Weak fuel pump? You're filling the carbs with gas with the blowing and it runs for a while but pump can't keep up and you eventually run out......

try it with the cap slightly loose, I will bet the vent line is pinched somewhere. Blowing through it opens it up, but any vacuum would cause it to close off.

Thanks, I do want to try that, but down in lower MI we do not have any snow right now. Might have to wait till next year.

This weekend I plan on tearing the vent system apart to see if there are any possible kinks.
