2003 Polaris 700 Touring - sled suddenly running rich, won't idle

Before I start shooting in the dark, I'd like some pointers on basic things to check or if you've had this issue, what fixed it.
Sled has ran great for the few years that I have owned it and ran just fine on an early season 25 mile test run this year. Loaded up and headed North (Wisconsin) for the weekend. First day of our trip (115 miles), sled won't idle or at least barely idles enough to stay running. Had to give the idle set screw about 10 cranks to get it to idle around 1200 rpm. Very gas/exhaust fumey when sitting still, using 25-30% more gas than expected/compared to other sleds. Plugs were pretty oily so I checked the oil pump and found it to be sticking slightly open (1/8" past index mark), fixed that and replaced plugs. Checked choke plungers and cable operation and all seem to be working just fine, lubed plungers anyway and checked to make sure cable not adjusted too tight possibly holding choke slightly on.
Not that it has anything to do with the problem but right before the 25 mile test run, I removed the Mystik full syn oil and filled with Amsoil Interceptor.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
EDIT: Another note to consider...both plugs were equally, really black and wet. Would that more or less rule out seats?? Would one bad needle/seat cause a wet, black plug on just that side?? Since they were equally black and wet that would mean they are getting equal fuel....fuel pump leaking into crank??

Leaky needles/seat, either pressure test per manual or replace. lLaking fuel pump diaphragm, look for fuel in impulse line.

Those were my next two ideas. If I pull the pulse line, will fuel run out kind of like siphoning from the tank or will there just be some kind of drip out of it?
I'll have to read up on how to test the needles/seats, never done that before. Thought about a sunk float too.

I am no mechanic, just my experience....
If all cylinders are experiencing the same symptoms, then there is usually single cause.
Does your sled have an air box? Is it clean? (no mice)

Ive had the main jet rattle loose on the 7 & 8's, also bad needle n seat. Or like others have said fuel pump, if you pull charge hose offf of pump & its wet time for a new one.

UPDATE: I got some time to work on it today and here is what I found.
Ultimately found fuel in the impulse line to the pump and crank case was full of fuel. Ordered new fuel pump and will install next week, fingers crossed it will all be good! Could have rebuilt it but a new fuel pump was only $40. Putting on an Arctic Cat pump since Polaris wanted $120.
Air box-clear, exhaust-clear, power valves-oily but not crusty, cleaned and reinstalled, choke cable and plungers-all good, needle/seats-seemed ok for how I tested them, carbs-clean but went through them anyway while I had things apart.
I'll update when new pump is in.

I got time this weekend to install the new fuel pump and it seems to be running fine now and idles much better. I'll have to give it a ride test when we get some snow here.
