2005 XC/SP 700 set-up

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to add performance parts to my 05 XC/SP 700. I was wondering what would everyone recommend and also what kind of track would you recommend? My riding style consists of 40% trail 55% ditch, and and the other 5% is racing down the lake. I would like to be a front runner on the lake but I would lean more towards mid range riding for the ditches and trails. I am not sure what kind of track I should get or should I just keep the stock one and install some studds?

Input is greatly appreciated!

I had both an '05 XC500SP and XC600SP. I had a pro tuner look at the 600 for increased performance, and the ONLY thing he told me to do to it was an SLP air horn. This increased air intake was all that was required to lean it out and increase performance significantly. That sled pulled like crazy on the trails after that air horn was put on. One of the best sleds I had. I tried to convince him to put on reeds or different jetting, but he was positive the air horn was all it needed. I'm pretty sure he was right.

When installing the SLP air horn you didn't change the jetting? I was looking into it and it was recommended in the slp installation instructions.

Negatory.....absolutely not. That is the whole point of the mod, to lean it out. Polaris's are notoriously "FAT" in the fuel delivery dept., from the factory.
I recall this dicussion clearly, and he was adamant NOT to rejet. I tried to push him to rejet, one size down, (even leaner) and if I recall correctly, he said the air horn should make the fuel/air mixture almost right on.
Now let me be clear about one thing.....I wouldn't run the air horn, without rejetting if you are running reformulated gas. I always used non-ethanol premium.
I couldn't believe the difference a darn air horn could make.
This guy is a welll known tuner in the southeastern WI area, affiliated with a local dealer, now out of business, sad to say.
I had him work on 3-4 sleds as I recall, with excellent results in all cases - Polaris only.
If you need the name, PM me, and I'll give it to you.
Unfortunately it's been awhile since I've had polaris's so I haven't contacted him in a long time, and don't have the number.

On my wifes 02 600 xcsp we put v-force reeds, EPI Pro series clutch kit, 1 1/4" track, dropped the main jet 1 size and 96 1.375" Stud boy studs. It runs strong. You would love your sled with this set up. Night and day difference.
