I have a intermittent problem with my 06 SDI 600. The problem just started, I put a new battery in it this year and it perfromed flawlessly on its first trip in early Dec. The issue I am having is I was out on the second trip, when you push the start button to prime the injectors it works for this first start but after riding for an hour or so if you shut it off it is hard to start. The button no longer turns the fuel pump on and it is a SOB to start. I usually pull it a maximum of 2 times and it fires, but since I have this issue I have to crack the throttle when I pull start it and it takes several pulls to start it. Now once it is running it is fine, however when you put it in reverse it dies out and then the swearing starts. LOL. Any input is appreciated, I may have a bum battery and would replace it but it is brand new.

I don't think it's a battery issue, but a brand-new battery CAN go bad -- I had one do so after only 500 miles (and it was a Yuasa, not some Chinese cheapie).

Stalling in reverse is one of the signs of low compression -- have you checked it recently?

This is a sign you need to replace the rings before it for a lack of better terms blows. This is the first sign you are about ready to loose a piston. Had to replace both rings on the wife last year. Not that big of a job but needs to be fixed.
