2006 Polaris Switchback 600 HO Loading Up

My 06 Switchback 600 HO appears to be what I would call loading up (running rich). It smokes excessively and when sitting idle for a minute or two, there will be a black spot in the snow where the exhaust comes out. It also seems to go through more gas than it should by i'm not sure about that. This is especially annoying off trail in the deep when you have to stop to pick a line or something, because once you go it hesitates due to loading up from idling. Forgive me if my lingo isn't the best, but I'm not the most technical person.

So, my question is two fold:

1) What suggestions would there be to fix the snowmobile as is? Jetting?

2) I'm thinking of adding a rumble pack silencer to it and believe that by doing that it may run a little leaner. Since I want to do this anyhow, should this be the 1st thing to try?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Look under the Polaris carb question post. you'll see some jetting recommendations. You might be better with a pipe and silencer combo but the silencer alone won't do anything. I have a SLP can and have the same issues.

My buddy had an 06 swithback 600 and we never could get it to come to life until he put a team clutch kit in it and then, holy ba-jesus. Did it ever wake that thing up.

Thanks for pointing me to the other thread. I did not see it. I'll post there.
