The first ride with my wifes FST was not a good one. Sled starts and than dies, ran for a short period but doggy. My dealer says they are seeing problems with ethanol fuel in the four strokes. Anyone have this problem yet? looking for any suggestions,it is back in the trailer to have my dealer hook it up to the computer tomorrow.

Can you give me some more details. How much old gas is in the tank?If there is more than a 1/4 tank of gas you should siphon it out and put fresh premium in it.Is the check engine light on?

had a full tank of old gas, siphoned out and replaced with fresh premium but did not help. check engine light is on right away but goes out and then will come back on. another strange thing is that when i am trying to start it back up the speedometer gives varying readings as if the track was spinning or the sled is moving but it is not even running.

Try removing and cleaning the speed sensor. Its located under the secondary clutch on the end of the drive shaft. It will sometimes get jacked up with to much grease.

Have you had your dash/MFD off lately?
I had a similar problem long time ago after I removed the MFD to install the projector beam headlight. Turned out I didnt get the MFD snaped in tight. I had all kinds of strange problems. Good luck.

No Excuse!

If ethanol fuel in the four strokes is a problem Polaris is going to have lots of unhappy users. 10%ethanol fuel everywhere. Why would your dealer say something like that? I'm sure you are within gas specs. Maybe he thinks bad gas is YOUR problem. I don't like the sound of this without proof.

Raceinsnow was right, got sled back today and my dealer replaced the speed sensor which fixed the problem. I should have known it would be more than the ethanol, I guess it made somne sense because I did not treat gas at end of season and honestly did not remember where I bought the last tank full. To clarify I questioned my dealer more about the ethanol and they have NOT worked on any sleds for this reason at this time. What he meant was they have started to receive calls from customers speculating that may be why they are having trouble the first start up of the season. Long story short problem is solved and my dealer did a great job getting me back on the snow in short order. Thanks for the suggestions and next time which hopefully won't be soon, I will provide more accurate details the first time.
