Im coming off a 97 Vmax 600, my first sled. Im looking at a mxz x 550 fan. What type of speed do these do? I've heard theyre great on the trails just not a lot of top end on a lake compared to a liquid. I'm not the 100 mph kid of guy, but had my Vmax to 80 plus occasionally. I ride up in three lakes eagle river area, so a lot of trails and lakes. Would this be a step up for me? The year alone is, but a good sled overall? 80mph?

Thanks,

Chris

I own a 06 and 08 550x. They handle very nice. Very nimble. 70-75mph. They can be fun to ride. Depending on the price/mileage it should be a good sled. It is also pretty good on fuel. I have 7000 miles on the 06 and 5000 on the 08. I have no complaints about them. Good luck. Any questions feel free to ask.

If you ride lots of lakes as you stated, I don't think a fan is for you. I owned a fan sled for my wife once, never again. I can't think of too many advantages of a fan over a liquid.

It's going to have a great suspension and ride quality, compared to your yamaha. You will love the chassis. It is a light sled with that is a lot of fun in the twisties and will be fun (easy) to toss around the bumps. As a a tradeoff to being light and nimble, the 550 fan will not have the same "punch" or top end as your yamaha. Depending on your riding style, it could be a great sled for you. I've ridden both sleds. The 550 fan was a blast in the twisties and jumps. But on long stretches I had it floored alot to get up to speed and it has to work a lot harder to get the speed that will come more easily (and quickly) to a 600 liquid. You can't go wrong with the sled you are looking at. (just don't ride a mxz 500ss while you own the 550 fan! or you will want the chassis and the power! )

anything from 2007 is going to be worlds better than your 97 - I would look for an XP chassis if you are looking for a ski doo. Worlds better than the REV.
