2007 Pontiac G6 - Remote Start/Radio

Looking for some quick help.

07 G6....radio will not shut off. Open/close doors and key in and out....nothing. A friend of mine told me to check the factory remote start on it. I looked and looked for a fuse for it but came up with nothing. I pulled the radio fuse in hopes it would quit drawing juice off the battery.

Any ideas? The remote start wont work now and if I put the radio fuse in it will just continue to draw off the battery.

Tried that. I have no idea whats going on with it. Its a factory radio and factory remote start. If I hit the remote start button it doesnt do anything, no flashing lights or anything.

Alot of cars have modules to keep the power on in your car after you shut her down. This function gets cancelled when you open a door. It is possible a relay that activates the stay on function has failed or you may have a bad pin switch which would also tie to the same system.

If your dome light is working properly you may be able to eliminate the pin switch as a cause. In Ford world the f-150's have the same problem that has been traced to commonly broken wires.

Anybody have any ideas on this? I thought it was just a bad radio but it seems like something would have to be sending the radio power. I dont think the radio knows when to shut itself on and off (maybe it does, I dont know)...I would think it would be something down the line a little farther.

all the electronics for this system is located on the passenger side behind the kick panel under the center console, might want to pull the panel and check for loose wires or a bad relay

Very much a long shot

I had a kind of similar problem on my 08 Trailblazer. Did not have the radio issue as I had an aftermarket put in. But the car would drain the battery. Dealer found a recall on the factory XM module. I am not a mechanic, but apparently all the cars get an XM module from the factory and many were bad. Replaced it and problems corrected.
Don't know if this is your issue or not, just a long shot.

I am pretty sure that this is all tied to a module that controls the power to the radio, window controls, locks and alarm, when you stop the car so that all these functions continue to work for a set period of time before you leave the car or, basically open the door. Somehow the door opening sends a signal to this module that then will shut everything off.

No doubt expensive to fix.

If it were me, I would pull the radio, find the power wire, and put a simple switch on the wire to the dashboard and forget about it. Use the switch to turn on or off the power when you want to listen to the radio.

The more high tech the stuff gets the more job security for the auto dealer tech, and your pocketbook takes a hit.

you have a door jam switch bad it is in the latch for the door it is what shuts down the r.a.p. system that is why your remote start will not work too. if your b.c.m. see's a door or hood open it will disable the remote start and if the radio will not shut down it sound to be a door latch switch

megan600 helped me out on this one. I went around and slammed each door about 4-5 times and put the fuse back in and the radio now works fine haha.
