We were riding in Seney and a friends 800 exhaust started on fire. We were able to put it out so it didb't burn the whole sled. We drove it back in the trailer and pulled the plugs. The pto side was wet and the mag side looked normal. Checked the compression and had 150/151 The carbs were cleaned and sled was gone thru at the local skidoo shop before the trip. We figured it was dumping gas into the can and when it backfired the gas was ignited. The only thing we didn't check was spark. We did put new plugs in it and it still did not sound right. I thought I read something years ago about the same happening but don't remember the cause. I searched but came up with no matches. Anyone out there remember the cause of these fires? Or anyone have an OEM can for this sled?
