2007 Yamaha Phazer Reverse

My 2007 Yamaha Phazer won't always go into reverse. This has the simple push button on the dash. The red light will appear and be flashing, but you can hear it does not slip into reverse. If I give it throttle, the motor will be limited on RPM. If I rock the sled a bit, sometimes it will engage. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

That is a known issue and I never heard of a factory fix. Rocking the sled usually works, once the sled is warmed up the issue gets better.

I had an 08 I found there is a range the sled needs to idle in for shift to occur, after fighting with it for a year I adjusted the idle only 100 or so rpm and helped 95 %. Hope this helps

Do you know what that range was? Assuming you lowered the RPM? If yes, how was that done?

If my memory is correct it must be under 1800 rpm I think I set mine to around 1600 or 1700. The adjustment screw you get to through a hole that has a rubber plug in your left engine shroud near the suspension. The hole is half inch or so. I used a 8" Phillip screwdriver to reach it . Take of the left side panel for visual access. I will try to find a picture.
