2008 Arctic Cat F5 LXR problems

I put the battery in my wifes 2008 F5 LXR today to get it out of storage (climate controled shop). It started and ran fine, the problem is the tack pegged, there is no lights or gauges whatsoever. No headlight, no tail light, no hand/thumb warmer, no odometer, no fuel guage. To make matters worse, I pushed the electronic reverse and now it will only run in reverse. I removed the headlight/gauge pod and check that connectionand it seems to be ok. I disconnected the battery and reconnected, still no change. The electric start still works. The tack needle is pegged, but the motor idles at a normal rpm. Anyone have any ideas on whats wrong???

Just a guess here but do you have any wires shorted ( rubbed ) to ground ? I had an 07 F6 and had massive wire rubbing issues with the harness and with the wires running from the grips down the bars to the harness. I will admit I never had lost that many items electrically but that is where I would start looking. Ran without headlight & heat to the grips one night for about 40 miles. I told the group to go on and had 1 of my kids stay in front of me so I could see. That turned out to be the wires rubbing real close to the main connector.

Had a 2008 F6 LXR and the gauges did just what you described. Turned out there's a service bulletin for the 2008 dash/gauge modules. The gaskets had a defect and mosture would cause the module to fog and in my case short out and I had to replace the gauge module. I didn't loose the headlight and such, but shorts can cause strange things to occur.

I was in my third season with the sled so unfortunatly it was not covered under warranty. The display module was around $575.
