2008 Arctic Cat F8 SnoPro Brake question

I have a 2008 F8 SnoPro that I bought in May. Supposed to go out finally tomorrow riding! Today, I pulled it out of the trailer to replace the carbides to double runners. Anyhow, when I started it, the brake light stayed on. When I got the sled, it had hand guards on it. A friend was removing them so we could install a touring windshield. He was in the trailer doing the work. Neither of us realized the brake assy. is part of the mounting system for the hand guards. When he unscrewed it, everything went flying. We put it back together, but haven't ridden due to lack of snow. The lever "feels right" when I squeeze it. However, I am concerned because the brake light never goes out. Also, when I ran it into the trailer later, the belt stunk some. So, I think the brake is holding up, too. Anyone have a suggestion? I want to ride on New Years Day with my wife- we each got new machines this year.
Thanks.

Brake light

Hi sled boy. Pull and release your brake lever and listen for the brake light switch. (Maybe listen for it on your wifes sled.) If you cant hear it click, you somehow messed up your switch. And if thats the case, the belt stink is from you slipping the clutch slowly loading a heavy sled on to trailer with new carbides digging in. Mine does it too. Also try the duallie carbides but take the singles with you. I found that the duallies felt like the sled had power steering but handled like an old buick. When i installed single bars the sled railed. Hope that helps. Dave
