2009 etec heated grip question

I have a 2009 Renegade 600 etec. Not sure what the reasoning is but my heated grips only work while you are riding the sled. While it sits at idle...nada. I was wondering if anyone knows of the reason it is set up this way or if there are any ways around this. I have bad circulation in my fingers and by the time the grips heat up finger tips are frozen and take an hour to thaw while riding...

Can't speak for 09's or etecs.....but on my new 1200 the throttle and grip warmers don't activate till 2000 rpm. Not sure why, but that's what it says in the owner's manual.

Yup, that's the way they are. Our 2010 didn't run any of the "luxury items" (warmers and power outlet) until the motor had a load on it. Once at idle, it'll cut power to the unnecessary things. Kinda sucks when your hands get cold, and meanwhile you think your sled is "warming up". You'll adapt and get used to it.

I know they did it to supply more amps to the lights at idle, probably related to going to two headlight bulbs I would imagine. If anyone has gotten around this I'd love to know also.

I was told by the dealer on my 10 gade that it was to supply needed voltage at idle to the ecm. My new 13 xs has power to the power outlet in the glove box at idle but warmers are dead til 3000 rpm. All said above is normal.
