I don't know if anyone posted on this before, but thought I'd throw it out there so other people don't feel like I did for a few hours. Got my Etec 600 home last Friday night and plugged in the heated shield wire harness and checked for 12 volts at idle, none. No hand warmers either. I find out today that RPMs have to be above 2000 for there to be 12 volts available for the shield outlet and hand warmers. Took a test light and ran RPMs up and sure enough, there it was. It's just the dealer never mentioned this and I never had this feature on any of the last nine Doos I've had.

Most sled ignitions won't put out 12v below 2000 rpm. they may put out someting less than that, still allowing things to work. The E-tech is set up to only allow the circut to be powered when 12v (or more) is available. You can hook the heated shield directly to the battery (w/ a fuse) if you like, just dont leave anything plugged into it for too long, could drain the battery. I have mine like this so the shield will stay warm while I am waiting for the rest of the crew to catch up, and don't want to run the engine.
