2010 Polaris 800 Dragon looses power on full throtle pulls

2010 800 Dragon looses power on anything over a 10 second full throttle pull going down a trail. Last year dealer worked on it twice and said they found water in the fuel tank second time. Drained fuel, replaced filter 3 times last year and sled still has same problem this year. It has 3400 miles on it after last week in the UP. Runs great as long as you don't make full throttle pulls. Plugs are burning nicely on both sides. I clean VES valves every year. When sled looses power, as long as you let off for a few seconds, it will recover briefly and then bogg down again. It has all the software updates too. Any clues from you Polaris guys out there??? I was thinking fuel pump or injectors until I pulled plugs and they are perfect. VES solenoid? I am going to try to plug the individual VES ports and see if that is the problem, but would love to hear any suggestions. Also before this problem for the first 3200 miles the sled ran perfect... This full throttle bogg happens around 7000 to 7500 rpm too, around 70 ish mph, but before it starts to bogg I have seen 8000 rpm on tach. No DET light or check engine light either.

Kdedecker, not sure this applies but check your throttle body boots. I had a buddy with 2008 switchback with similar problem and the boots where cracked allowing it to run lean. When this would happen the sled would detune itself so it wouldn't burn down, good luck.

Problem was simple, it needs a top end. Compression check showed 92 on mag cylinder and 100 on pto cylinder. A few score marks in cylinder on mag side. So parts alone from Polaris will be $1700. No thank you, I have a big hole dug at the farm and will just push it in. lol.

Pistons are $300 with gaskets or cheaper depending on what you want. I dont recall what a replate costs for the cylinders, but its reasonable. Maybe $450 or so. Score marks can usually be honed off, or left. Scratches are when replating is needed.

Top ends can be done for well under $1000. You just cant use Polaris parts. Which in your case only last 3200 miles anyway.....

If you are going to throw it away, I will take it.

I was kidding about pushing it in the hole, but I did sell it "as is" for $2000. And yes I told the guy it needs a top end refresh and that I have no idea how bad the cylinders are,
